Grant Park Bungalow Attic Addition

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Grant Park Bungalow Attic Addition

Owned and beloved by an architectural historian, this 1906 former Church parsonage in Grant Park had an attic spaced with vaulted ceilings that was ripe for building out… but the attic had no stair access and no foundation support for the build out. Working with architect Adam Stillman, we reinforced the existing foundation so it could take a second-floor load, then built floating stairs and converted the attic into living space. The second floor now includes two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a play area. We also added dormers to match the historic style and upgraded the home’s insulation to modern-day standards. Finally, we remodeled the bathroom on the main floor.

Due to the home’s history, we took great care to match every detail down to the hardware, including a custom-milled baseboard to match the original baseboard. This project was a labor of love and boasts true craftsmanship.
