Dunwoody Home Transformed
Dunwoody, Home TransformedBuild: 1960's French country Two-story
In the aftermath of an electrical fire, we gutted this Dunwoody house to the studs. The kitchen, dining room, living room, and mud room were all extensively modified and upgraded to accommodate two busy adults, two active children, friends, family, and the family dog.
We started by removing the damaged subfloor and replacing it with new a subfloor. We also removed the drywall which contained asbestos to install totally new drywall. We replaced every mechanical system, from electrical to HVAC and plumbing. Finally, the old half-inch plywood subfloor was replaced with 3/4″ Advantech for a total a performance upgrade.
This home is now full of custom elements, from wainscoting to a wood-burning Isokern fireplace with a carved marble surround. The living room features reclaimed beams from an Amish barn. There is storage galore throughout, including custom built-ins in many rooms, as well as a truly spectacular laundry and mud room.
